Under current federal law, a new round of Qualified Opportunity Zone designations is scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2027. For qualifying investments made after December 31, 2026, eligible gains may generally be deferred for up to five years, subject to statutory requirements, implementing guidance, and each investor’s circumstances.
